The Tiger’s Back – sort of

Slopes of Sron nan Gabhar

Another snippet while I organise myself for our next foray north. (well, Lynne organises me/us really. I just label the pics we've taken!). From Carn na Drochaide to the slopes of Sron nan Gabhar.

  1. How strange. Is this a permanent feature of the hill?

  2. Hi Alan - it's caused by 'muir' burning - burning of the heather to maintain the habitat for grouse.

  3. That's a really unusual effect when framed like that. It almost looks like a special effect from one of the Photoshop palettes.

I'm not keen on shooting myself but there are worse alternatives when it comes to land use.

(By the way, when I say I'm not keen on shooting myself, that isn't meant to imply that I take pleasure in shooting other people. Although there are times...)

  4. There was a lot of deer stalking taking place on this last holiday and an encounter with one party in Glen Ey was interesting. (More in a post!)
