Having a local walk without a rucksack to see how my torn back muscle feels. Fine it seems, except for slight dull pain. Maybe it will, after all, be OK for our planned West to East in a week's time, but then again there's a big difference between a stroll across fields and carrying a pack across Scotland, crawling in and out a tent etc.
And maybe I risk losing the rest of the summer by worsening the injury.
It will be a mad rush to deliver parcels if we do decide to go.

Tough decision. Glad its not mine to make.
Hope you feel better soon.
I think the decision is made really - I'm just clinging on to hope uselessly! We've so many other plans for the summer that to risk spoiling them for a two week walk would be crazy.
The motorvan needed a new cat btw, all done. Great service from our local garage again.
Thanks for your good wishes Alan.
That's very tough to miss out, but there us always another year.
A friend of mine played rugby with s bad back and ended up in a cast from waist to chest for 6 months.
Horrific Andy! That sounds like your friend had spinal injury though, whereas mine is muscular. Still, I'd better be careful.
