Snow and 'my' blackbird

It's snowing heavily this morning and the birds are hungry.

He waits patiently
then

Follows me into the garage while I get his food


Quite a contrast to Saturday when we checked out the Nallo

    What mad weather we have here. I wish it was more reliable.
    What route are you planning to do across. Or will i have to be patient.

    Hi Alan

    It's a very flexible route starting in Oban for no other reason than we don't go there very often so the start will be less familiar than other west coast options. We'll pass through Kinlochleven, Dalwhinnie and Braemar for resupply. As far as possible we want this to be a journey with the only restrictions being imposed by the landscape itself (and the weather of course - oh, and our bodies!)

    We may climb lots of hills or only a few. Our only limit is that we must be on the east coast in 14 days - maybe 15 - since we head to the north west fairly soon after our return. In truth I'm not sure why we are doing a walk which takes us *away* from the west coast in May. Even less sure why Lynne agreed! West is best in May and June!

      Sounds very nice. I presume you will be heading for the Blackwater. Just a guess. Is there a way of crossing the dam without going down into Kinlochleven?

    Hi Alan

    We'll probably be coming via the Lairig Gartain or over Buachaille Etive Mor to Altnafeadh, then to Kinlochleven by the Devil's Staircase.From Kinlochleven we'll take the lovely wooded path on the north side of the River Leven to Blackwater Reservoir and on to Loch Chiarain, Leum Uilleim etc.. Yes, you can cross the BWR dam, unless anything has changed recently.

    Thats a nice route. I have walked in Glen kinglas and round to Lairig Gartain then via Altnafeadth to Kinlochleven.
    I havn't walked your onward route to Corrour but i have walked Corrour to Fort William. i have often wondered if it was possible to cross the BW dam and now i know. Thanks Gibson.

    We're off exactly one week before the Challenge starts, so we'll think of you setting out from Morar while we (hopefully)are in the Cairngorms. Your route for this year must be up for the 'Route of the Year Award' surely?

    I have had comments disappear as well!
    I thought I had deleted them by accident with the new comment verification process.
    I also see that your time stamps are haywire as well on the comment times. I have emailed Google three times about this and not had one reply.
    Onwards and upwards..

      Thanks Alan. Glad it's not only me with this issue. If I'm using IE9, as opposed to Firefox, I often lose comments when I try to publish and have to re-do using Firefox. I notice Google are offering an upgrade to Blogger which I'm afraid to try in case I lose everything!
