Two days ago and it hasn't really stopped snowing since!
The tracks continued to just beyond the bushes and skis might have been useful thereafter, although ours are narrow competition style (we've never skied competitively) so the benefit would have been marginal.
Anyway, we knew we had a driveway to clear so headed back just as the forecasted bitter east wind started to blow.
We cleared it again yesterday and I'm off to do likewise again. Almost 2ft of snow now in the garden.
If you read this Hugh, I hope you are surviving where you are!

We have a few inches but nothing in comparison to you. Looks great in photo form.
We have to go to the Lakes tomorrow so it might take us some time.
The trouble is we can't get anywhere to climb! There's about 2ft in the garden now and I need to go and clear the driveway for the 3rd time just in case we need out in an emergency. Although whether we'd get very far once on the main road is questionable.
Are you taking the Scarp with you to the Lakes? Have a safe journey you both.
See my blog for pics of our snow. Nothing in comparison with yours! My daughter is living with me at the moment in between houses having taken a new job at a special school near here. My new Skoda Yeti has come into its own transporting her to school. We have steep hills that do not get treated and the Yeti sails up without problem.
Gibson,
No unfortunately not. We have to go and be meals on wheels for Sheila’s mum every 3 weeks. She doesn’t drive and lives in Gosforth West Cumbria, we take her to Whitehaven shopping and do the odd job.
If we don’t get there she might starve. ha.
Sir Hugh - The Yeti sounds ideal and no doubt will prove its worth again and again this winter.
