Local track

This was the scene around here on 29 November 2010. By contrast only some wet snow is evident in the garden this morning, although the Ochils had their first sprinkling a few weeks ago.

It’s been a wet and very windy November and I hope the above conditions come quickly in December.

There are a few photographs taken last December here

We camped last november and it was -7. I love the snow but not the dark nights. Unfortunately the 2 seem to go together.

Hi Alan

I love all the seasons, if only they were a bit more seasonal!

I don't think I'll be out camping again until February now - it's, as Alan says, the long nights. Fine if you're in a pub garden, of course...

There's a thought.

Lovely pictures, Gibson.

Oops! irrecoverable error!

The sight of this year's leaves hanging on alongside next year's buds has been pretty odd, although the winds of the last few days have gone some way towards restoring the natural order.

It's been an extraordinarily dry year as well. I don't recall ever seeing the Severn so low in autumn and salmon are struggling to make progress up the Teme because of lack of water on some of the runs.

Thanks Alan S - not hard to take reasonable pics in those conditions. Winter backpacking from pub to pub. A winter version of TGOC then!?

Byeways - seems like a very wet one up here, although no doubt the statistics will show 'the driest year in Scotland since ..etc!

Gibson, I was looking to do a post along the similar lines. Nice photos. Such a difference between the two years !!

Hi Mark

Thanks Mark. There doesn't seem to be any sign of a change to proper winter weather soon - at least not here. I'll look out for your post and photos.
